Box in three-phase installations without neutral

In Europe, the most common installations that can be found in electrical panels are single-phase and three-phase with neutral, although sometimes it may be necessary to monitor a three-phase installation without neutral or 3-wire.

Three-phase installations without neutral can be monitored with the Wibeee One 3W, Box Three-phase or Max meters.

In these cases, special guidelines must be observed during meter installation.

Monitoring using a 3-phase Box

Unlike a three-phase installation, in a 3-wire installation, it is not possible to power the Wibeee Box between phase and neutral, as specified in the installation guidelines.

The Wibeee Box can be powered at a maximum of 265V and therefore, if the voltage difference between phases does not exceed 265V, the meter can be powered between phases in 3-phase installations without neutral, 3-wire. Above 265V, the equipment would suffer irreparable damage.

You must continue with the usual installation for three-phase equipment, registering the meter in the Wibeee Nest App, although in these cases, an additional step must be taken during installation, which is to indicate to the equipment through the internal page that it is measuring a 3-wire installation and not a 4-wire installation.

  1. Accessing the internal page of the meter

  2. In the Connection Type section, choose whether the three-phase installation is 3-wire (switch to left) or 4-wire (switch to right).

In this way, the meter already applies the new configuration to adapt the voltage, power and energy calculations to an installation without neutral.
